Stress Management

Emotional awareness is important for anyone to ensure better understanding of the experienced thinking, feelings and behaviour within a holistic context. These aspects promote the awareness of a person’s own ability, coping mechanisms as well as survival skills and encouragement. Every person experiences specific emotions, which in turn have an effect on the circumstances or happenings within a person’s life. Therefore it is important for a person, going through some difficult times, to receive counselling in order to receive some skills for coping with the situation.

Examples of certain fields include the following:

STRESS MANAGEMENT

In order for the Counsellor to help the client with stress management, he/she must establish all the stressors in the client’s life. Then the counsellor will provide the client with certain techniques to help him/her deal with the stress in his/her life. The counsellor’s highest priority is to get the client calm in order for the client to deal with his/her situation.

TRAUMA

Trauma is like a hailstorm on a bed of Indian pink flowers, the cause disappears faster than the consequence.

There are many different forms of trauma a person can experience, but for the purpose of this business the most common trauma experienced by the client will be the loss of a job, a house and income.

Once trauma is experienced, specific emotions and feelings are surfacing, influencing the individual’s behaviour to such an extent that specific behaviour or patterns manifest, causing a specific effect on the self as well as significant and surrounding others with whom a specific relationship is formed.

ANXIETY

Anxiety is an uncomfortable feeling in the mind caused by the fear or expectation that something bad will happen. For example, a person experience anxiety about all his debts that he just can’t pay. He is anxious for he wonders how he will provide the necessary things for his family.

DEPRESSION

In today’s society depression became the “buzz” word, for every second person struggles with depression due to the hectic world we live in. It is the counsellor’s task to determine whether or not the client indeed suffers from depression. Sometimes the client only has an imbalance of amino acids in the brain that has similar symptoms than that of depression. The counsellor will then give the client some advice to rectify the problem.

MARRIAGE COUNSELLING

When people go through difficult times they are tend to keep all their worries and fears for themselves. If such a person is married his/her marriage relationship may get a knock, for there’s a lack of communication. Further conflict may arise if marriage partners do not know about the debts of each other. Resent research in the USA states that 58% of people who lost their employment and, who were debt stressed, went through a divorce within the next 12 months.
